Introduction I’ve had a home lab for playing with servers for going on 15 years. It started in University, as a tired old desktop with as many hard drives as I could scrounge up and keep alive, all jerry-rigged into a then-cutting-edge LVM2 file server, as much memory as we could afford to host game servers (one at a time or the poor thing would overheat), and IPCop so we could all share the single internet connection we had.
